Following a teaching career of 36 years Richard is now works with schools and educational organisations supporting the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
With 25 years of experience in using IT in eduction, the last 10 managing an educational research and training centre Richard has expertise in developing creative approaches in the use of technology to enable teachers to deliver engaging, effective and efficient lessons.
Richard has presented at conferences in the UK and abroad sharing his ideas, thoughts and experiences of using the whole range of technologies across the whole age spectrum and abilities. Richard is most passionate about working along side teachers and their students in their school and classrooms therefore enabling the sharing of ideas and strategies whilst delivering effective continuing professional development.
Mark combines a strong academic background with extensive expertise in education and marketing. Initially after graduating from Cambridge in the 1980s, Mark worked in the London Book and Publishing Industries before moving to specialise in direct marketing. In 2003 Mark was approached by a number of his technology clients to help them engage and work in the expanding education sector in the UK and founded ConnectED out of this experience.
Will is ConnectED’s language technology specialist. He is passionate about the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of languages. Will uses the latest software and technology to create simple and motivating language learning exercises which give students immediate feedback on their progress. Will creates online activities which mirror exactly what is happening in the classroom. Will’s exercises concentrate on reading and writing skills and he now develops exercises for enhancing listening and speaking skills.
Will presents workshop sessions on how to find, create and use rich multimedia content and technology to stimulate language learning both within the classroom and in a Language Lab. His sessions explain how to maximize the use of existing technology and resources to enhance student engagement, interaction and results.
Technical expert Leon manages the onsite and remote installations for our language lab software Sony Virtuoso. Leon combines an expert knowledge of IT and Sony Virtuoso to ensure clients technical requirements are met and installations run smoothly and to schedule.
Tony provides service delivery and training management throughout the EMEA region. Previous to his role at ConnectED Tony served in the Army for 7 years, completed University and for the past 12 years has worked in the information technology industry.
Nisha is our clients 1st point of contact for invoicing and accounts queries. She works steadfastly and brilliantly behind the scenes to make sure this part of the sales process runs smoothly for our clients in the UK and overseas.
Derek offers 1st and 2nd line customer contact helping clients resolve any software issues, providing technical support for Sony Virtuoso, Sony Soloist, Sony PlayStation and augmented reality software Second Sight.
As Senior Account Manager Tina is responsible for managing our portfolio of PlayStation and Sony Virtuoso clients, leading on project management, maintaining and expanding relationships with our clients and managing the Playstation sales process.
Warren works with the ConnectED team contributing to our Game Based Learning events and projects. With a background in digital animation and 3dfx he is currently Creative Director for WAK Studios, working on new 3D projects. Warren is also a qualified Autodesk Maya trainer and is a Member of the Autodesk Secondary Education Advisory Board.
Miguel Á. Bernal Merino is passionate about the application of game-like application for teaching and learning languages, as well as in the localisation of polysemiotic interactive texts so essential in our globalised marketplace.
As a born pedagogue with twenty years’ experience in teaching at all levels, he has always been a technology-friendly teacher and an advocate for a variety of teaching methods to make the best of the different learning styles of students whatever their age. Game-based learning has enormous possibilities to complement formal education.
Vanessa is Marketing Communications Manger for ConnectED. Her responsibilities include setting marketing strategy, delivering tactical marketing plans, branding, messaging, events management, project management, website development and PR.
Ian brings more than 25 years of experience as a software technician, senior software industry executive, teacher and curriculum leader to ConnectED. He is passionate about the transformational impact that mobile, desktop and Internet technologies can have on the delivery of truly engaging, motivating and ultimately successful learning experiences.
He can draw on his wide experience of primary and secondary teaching using multi-media technologies to advise on everything from whole school to individual classroom or lesson strategies. Ian’s achievements have been recognised by his appointment as an Apple Education Mentor and Apple Distinguished Educator.
Jo works closely with the ConnectED Team on our Game Based Learning projects and consultancy. She has recently completed a number of research projects that indicate that disaffected young people can become motivated and can gain confidence through projects involving ICT. Evidence demonstrated that limited language and literacy skills can be supported effectively within a computer gaming environment. These successes have informed the Hounslow borough wide ‘Hold on to Sports’ computer gaming event inspired by the 2012 Olympics.
Currently studying for a Masters Degree in International Trade Nico represents ConnectED Services in France promoting language lab Sony Virtuoso to schools, colleges and universities. Nico researches opportunities for the company and regularly joins the UK team at our industry events.
Nicki has been advising the Board of ConnectED since January 2007. She has practised employment, company and commercial law since 2001. Before that she had careers in both the public/voluntary sector (working with young people in extracurricular projects alongside mainstream education) and also in the private sector (in PR and media) giving her a global perspective on the issues challenging businesses today.
Following board roles as a Financial and Commercial Director, Karen has been running her own business consultancy for seventeen years. The business offers commercial and financial advice to clients in the service, retail and manufacturing sectors.
