GBL gets impressive results stimulating interest in sports

A community based programme across all of Hounslow schools HOTS (Hold onto Sports) used GBL as a tool to inspire learning and to stimulate interest in a wide variety of sports. Over 500 young people took part in 2009 / 2010 and 2000 took part in 2010/2011 with the aim for the project to be borough wide for 2011 / 2012. The initiative aims to improve standards and raise attainment particularly in English and ICT. Results demonstrated improvements in motivation, self esteem and impact on team spirit. With a significant impact on the take up of real sports and learning about sports, on attitude to learning and teamwork.

Hold on to Sports is encouraging the young people of Hounslow to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as the London Borough of Hounslow, we are delivering on our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Para Olympic Games to boost participation in sport and engagement with technology in a way that celebrates sport, healthy living and teamwork
